EEC: Accreditations

By achieving MCS Certification you are demonstrating to your customers that you have achieved and operate to the high standards and regulations required by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme. The MCS Certification mark is recognised throughout the industry as a sign of a high quality Installer and high quality product. The MCS Scheme has become the only approval a Renewable Installer needs to achieve to show the quality standards their company works to. MCS is now a mandatory requirement for consumers looking to access financial incentives and is quickly becoming a requirement on commercial and social tender requirements.

HIES is a consumer protection organisation covering the installation of renewable energy and home energy efficiency products. By respecting, protecting and educating consumers our aim is to transform consumer protection within the home energy market.

How does HIES protect consumers?

All prospective members must endure a rigorous accreditation process before they can join our trusted network of installers. Once approved, they will be subject to annual vetting to ensure they are adhering to our scheme rules and code of practice.

In addition to free deposit protection, free stage payment protection and free insurance backed guarantees, consumers using a HIES accredited member can benefit from our robust, Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) approved alternative dispute resolution service, thus ensuring they are protected at every step of their customer journey.

ISO 9001 is the international standard for a quality management system (“QMS”).  In order to be certified to the ISO 9001 standard, a company must follow the requirements set forth in the ISO 9001 Standard. The standard is used by organizations to demonstrate their ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements and to demonstrate continuous improvement.

The main benefits of using an NICEIC registered contractor are:

Safety and competence

Contractors registered by NICEIC are assessed on a regular basis to ensure that they are competent and capable of meeting the relevant technical and safety standards, codes of practice and rules of the Schemes they are registered to.

Compliance with building regulations

Contractors registered to NICEIC Building Regulations Schemes in England and Wales are authorised to self-certify their work to the Local Building Control Body. This saves you both time and money when undertaking work that requires notification under the Building Regulations.

Platinum Promise and Complaints Procedure

All NICEIC registered contractors are expected to provide a quality service to their customers. They stand behind the quality of NICEIC registered contractors and believe that as a consumer you should have peace of mind. Their Platinum Promise means that if you are not happy with the work that is done by an NICEIC registered contractor and they agree that it is deficient they will help to put it right.
